Our History

The Fleet Manager Inc. — the first division of DPM and Associates, parent to Truck Source and sister company DPM Logistics — was started in 1987 as a medium-duty truck repair facility. In 1996, we acquired a Norfolk dealership and renamed it The Truck Source.

In 2001, The Truck Source launched TSI Leasing to offer daily rental, full-service leasing, contract maintenance, and body repair. By 2006, that business had grown to over 300 units under management.

When the economy turned in 2007, the trucking industry took the hit alongside everyone else. We retrenched, restructured, and looked for growth — and we saw an opportunity in the transportation market as our existing customers sought more complete solutions in the new economy.

Armed with our knowledge of operating fleets and the ability to operate more competitively than other local entities, we started fielding transportation services, gaining contracts with Berkshire Hathaway, Ferguson Enterprises, Prudential Overall Supply, and other major regional shippers.

2014 saw significant growth in the regional transportation solutions sector. We forged agreements with major players in local manufacturing, national third-party logistics companies (3PLs), and regional distribution. Combined with our existing fleet, we built a strong foothold in the freight transportation market.

Our recent accomplishments include updating our tractor fleet so no frontline units exceed three years old, purchasing state-of-the-art air-ride trailers, and implementing electronic logs, GPS tracking, customer-friendly billing, and freight tracking software. In 2016, we built a new state-of-the-art warehouse, service, and headquarters terminal at the intersection of I-295 and I-95 in Hanover County.

We are proudest of our culture — one focused on safety, with the highest standards for drivers, mechanics, and administration. That foundation lets us compete in the Mid-Atlantic regional transportation market with focus and expertise we’ll bring well into the future.

“These guys know their stuff and they move quickly. We have cab-over trucks that are 2001 and 1997. They can always source parts and get these things back to work in short order.”
